Overview






ThinkWell is an emerging health systems development organization that is currently in a major growth phase. While our core area of work is health financing, we take a health systems approach that includes human resources for health, health information systems, private sector engagement, and research and evaluation. We are looking for a Due Diligence Advisor to provide expert policy advice and technical assistance as part of the USAID Bangladesh Advancing Universal Health Care (AUHC) project. This is a full-time position is based in Bangladesh AUHC project offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

Within the AUHC project, ThinkWell will lead the incubator unit which will provide strategic and technical support to the newly established Surjer Hashi (Smiling Sun) Group (SHN), a sustainable pro-poor social enterprise. The Due Diligence Advisor is responsible for development of various resources for newly established SHN. This will include but not limited to finance and operations manuals, policies, procedures and program guidance. The incumbent will also require to provide input in management of SHN operated clinics in initial stages. This person will also coordinate with other departments in the AUHC Incubator and Operator to coordinate and provide input in other activities. In collaboration and under supervision of Deputy Director, Incubator the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:




Responsibilities






  • Under the Supervision of the Incubator Deputy Director, provide the leadership and guidance in developing various manuals, policies, procedures, guidelines and program direction of SHN as it relates to AUHC Incubator.

  • Provide various programmatic inputs and context in various system design and development for SHN.

  • Provide leadership in managing SHN clinics through SHN and be flexible and responsiveness of the incubator to the projects evolving needs

  • Manage and lead due diligent, value based activities and other strategic initiatives for SHN.

  • Provide input for overall project landscape analysis, the creation of business plan, and the management framework for SHN.

  • Ensure the systematic use of scientific and technical knowledge in all activity’s design, implementation, and monitoring to advance UHC in Bangladesh.

  • Contribute to the project’s overall learning agenda related to Incubator and SHN.

  • Directly supervise Incubator operations staff following the approved organogram.

  • Respond to ThinkWell Global Headquarters and donor queries at regular basis.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.





Qualifications






  • The candidate will hold an advanced degree in public health, business administration, finance, or another relevant field;

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in managing health related activities specially in Bangladesh and must have details knowledge of health clinics management and operations;

  • Experience in the leveraging of resources from the private and public sector;

  • Experience working with donors, governments, or NGOs in international development finance or a related field.

  • Creative technical approach that pushes boundaries with an understanding of how to navigate relationships and advocate for bold ideas that challenge conventional wisdom within complex environments;

  • Experience of living and working in a low income or lower-middle income country is highly desirable;

  • Understanding of how to navigate relationships and advocate for bold ideas within complex environments such as ministries of health and large funding organizations;

  • Strong quantitative skills, proficiency in Stata or another statistics software is desirable;

  • Fluent command of English and Bengali;

  • Willingness to travel is essential.
